CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Designing and Debugging Programs
      • Set compiler options for debugging.
      • Read a COBOL source listing and identify the sections.
      • Interpret the debugging information in the console and system log.
      • Appreciate and understand Transaction Abend codes.
      • Locate information in the abend code documentation.
    2. Dumps: Introduction
      • Examine the featureset of the Register Savearea.
      • Locate the next sequential instruction.
      • Locate dataset attribute information.
      • Locate records in the buffers.
      • Determine the last I/O command that has been executed.
      • Establish a point where the system has been waiting for a resource.
    3. Enterprise COBOL Debugging
      • Trace an I/O operation and DCB merge.
      • Compare the access methods and their control information: DCB, ACB, and BLDL.
      • Locate the debugging documentation.
      • Analyze the effects of buffering for debugging programs.
    4. Abend-AID Facilities and Features
      • Review the Abend-AID sections and select debugging information.
      • Use source code OFFSET or Procedure Map - LIST for locating and gathering statement information from the assembler commands.
      • Use the source code Data Division Map for locating data items, BLW cells, BLL cells, and BLF cells.
    5. Diagnosing Errors: Abend-AID
      • Become familiar with the Transaction Abend codes.
      • Locate information in the Abend code documentation.
