DATES:

CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Running a z/OS Job
      • Demonstrate the concept of a job and job step.
      • Use an IBM utility.
      • Code a job with three steps that all execute; one of the steps will be an IEBGENER.
    2. Job Management
      • Recognize the JOB card options which reflect job and task management.
      • Code a job with a RESTART option.
      • Code a job using the CLASS, NOTIFY, accounting information, and MSGLEVEL.
    3. Program Execution
      • Code an EXEC card with appropriate options.
      • Pass a PARM into a program.
      • Print a dataset.
      • Specify EXEC parameters such as REGION and TIME.
      • Run additional utilities: IDCAMS, IEFBR14, and IEBCOPY.
    4. Sequential Datasets
      • Utilize the options associated with an existing dataset and the creation of a new sequential dataset.
      • Use an existing sequential dataset.
      • Create a new TAPE dataset.
    5. Creating Datasets
      • Utilize the options associated with an existing dataset and the creation of a new sequential dataset.
      • Create a new DASD dataset specifying space and SMS class information.
    6. SORT Utility
      • Code the SORT utility.
      • Acquire proficiency with the SORT control card syntax and options.
      • Sort a dataset in ascending order.
      • Sort a dataset with multiple keys.
    7. Non-sequential Datasets
      • Allocate a PDS.
      • Allocate a PDSE.
      • Copy data into members in the PDS.
      • List the members in a PDS.
      • Rename a member in a PDS.
    8. Running Complex Jobs
      • Use the referback option.
      • Create a dataset and use the attributes of the new dataset to create another dataset.
    9. Non-sequential Files
      • Create and use a PDS.
      • Create a PDS.
      • Add, rename, and delete members using IEHPROGM.
    10. Procedures
      • Acquire familiarity with a catalog procedure required for creation and invocation.
      • Create a catalog procedure with multiple steps, symbolic parameters, and code substitution.
    11. Specialized JCL Usage
      • Create a generation dataset.
      • Create a MODEL dataset.
      • Use the MODEL and create a GDG.
      • Create multiple datasets.
      • Delete a dataset and review the catalog for the GDG.
    12. JES Control Statements
      • Code a JES control card for printing reports.
      • Code a JES control card for routing the printout to a specific printer.
      • Code a JES control card for printing multiple copies of a report.
    13. Running in Network
      • Code a JES control card for routing jobs to a specific CPU.
      • Route the job to a specific system; if the system is unavailable route the job to another system.
    14. SMS: Storage Management Subsystem
      • Create a new dataset and specify an appropriate storage class, management class, and data class.
