CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES:
    1. Table Handling
      • Create and populate a multidimensional table.
      • Search a multidimensional table.
    2. Internal Sorts
      • Code the SORT COBOL verb to sort a dataset.
      • Code the SORT COBOL verb to sort a dataset using procedures.
      • Use the dataset to print a statistical report using breaks.
      • Read and merge sequential datasets.
      • How to debug I/O errors.
      • Given master and transaction datasets with matching keys, merge the datasets into a single updated master.
      • Perform multiple levels of error checking.
    3. VSAM: Introduction
      • Define a VSAM KSDS.
    4. COBOL and VSAM.
      • Learn to process data in a VSAM KSDS.
      • Handle exceptions in processing.
      • Create, load, and retrieve data in an employee database.
    5. Related Programs and Subprograms
      • Code a COBOL function returning a single value.
      • Code a function being passed and array and return a status code.
    6. Intrinsic Functions
      • Convert data between upper and lower case.
      • Processing table items using intrinsic functions.
    7. Nested Programs
      • Limitations of nest programs.
      • Sharing data between programs.
      • Scope and lifetime of variables.
    8. COBOL Styles and Techniques
      • Given a poorly written program, improve the program using proper styles and techniques.
    9. Unicode Support
      • Create and process data containing UNICODE character format.
    10. XML
      • Read and display a subtree in an XML document.
